City of Albany

I-787 / I-90 / I-87 Northway

New York's state capital and one of the oldest continuously chartered cities in the United States (chartered 1686). Albany contains the New York State Capitol (the ornate 1899 Capitol building, not a domed capitol — one of only 10 state capitols without a dome), the Empire State Plaza (the Nelson A. Rockefeller-commissioned government complex with the Egg performing arts center), the State Museum, the USS Slater historic destroyer escort, the Palace Theatre, the Ten Broeck Mansion, the University at Albany downtown campus, the College of Saint Rose, Albany Medical Center, Albany Law School, and historic neighborhoods from Center Square to Pine Hills to Washington Park.
