Atlantic City & Absecon Island Beach Towns

Atlantic City Expy / US-30 / Brigantine Bridge

The barrier island that gives the metro its name — a 10-mile Atlantic Ocean beach strip holding five distinct municipalities. Atlantic City (the resort hub with the Boardwalk, Steel Pier, Hard Rock, Borgata, Ocean Casino, Caesars, Tropicana, and nine other casinos) occupies the northern half of the island. Ventnor City, Margate City, and Longport form the quieter residential and vacation communities on the southern half, while Brigantine sits on the adjacent barrier island just north of Atlantic City across the Absecon Inlet. The region is connected to the mainland via the Atlantic City Expressway, the US-30 White Horse Pike drawbridge, and the NJ-87 Brigantine Bridge.
