Downtown & Central Austin
The urban core of Austin bounded roughly by MoPac (Loop 1) to the west, I-35 to the east, US-183 to the north, and Lady Bird Lake to the south. Downtown Austin is the seat of Texas state government and home to the University of Texas at Austin. The area includes Clarksville, Old West Austin, Judges Hill, West Campus, and the booming Rainey Street entertainment district. South of Lady Bird Lake, South Congress (SoCo), Zilker, Barton Hills, Travis Heights, and Bouldin Creek are among Austin's most sought-after neighborhoods. This is the walkable, culturally rich heart of the metro.
