US-79 / SH-71

The eastern arc of the Austin metro, from Hutto and Taylor in northeastern Williamson County through Elgin and into Bastrop County. Hutto has grown rapidly with master-planned communities along US-79. Taylor, historically an agricultural town, is the site of Samsung's massive semiconductor fabrication plant, bringing transformative investment to the area. Elgin, straddling the Bastrop-Travis county line, is known for its sausage heritage and small-town character. Bastrop, on the Colorado River along SH-71, offers historic charm and proximity to Bastrop State Park, a Lost Pines ecosystem.
