Livingston Parish

I-12 East

A large, predominantly residential parish east of Baton Rouge, connected via I-12. Denham Springs (pop. 9,500) is the commercial center, located just across the Amite River from East Baton Rouge. Walker (pop. 6,400) sits farther east along I-12. Livingston town is the parish seat and home to the LIGO gravitational wave observatory. The parish experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Baton Rouge commuters and saw significant flooding in 2016.
