Stillwater County & Columbus

The western reach of the Billings MSA along the Yellowstone and Stillwater Rivers. Columbus, the county seat, is a small city on I-90 about 40 miles west of Billings with a walkable Main Street and access to the Beartooth Mountains. Absarokee, on the Stillwater River to the south, is a ranching and recreation community near the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The county is known for the Stillwater Mine, one of the only palladium-platinum mines in the United States.
