The inland Lake County communities west of the lakefront along the Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294), the Metra Milwaukee District/North Line, and the North Central Service. This region spans from Deerfield and Buffalo Grove on the southern Cook County border north to Antioch and Fox Lake on the Wisconsin state line. It contains Great Lakes Naval Station, Gurnee's Six Flags Great America, the Libertyville-Mundelein commercial corridor along Milwaukee Avenue (IL-21), and a mix of established suburbs, chain-of-lakes recreation areas, and newer subdivisions.
