Kershaw County Corridor
US-1 NE
The northeastern edge of the Columbia MSA in Kershaw County, centered on the historic city of Camden -- South Carolina's oldest inland city, founded in 1732 -- and the fast-growing CDP of Lugoff along US-1. Camden is known for its equestrian heritage, the Carolina Cup steeplechase, Revolutionary War battlefield sites, and a walkable historic downtown. Lugoff, situated between Camden and Columbia along US-1, has grown substantially as a bedroom community with newer subdivisions and retail. Elgin, at the Richland-Kershaw county line, connects this corridor to Northeast Columbia's growth. The area is served by Kershaw County School District.
