Southeast Richland

The rural and emerging suburban area of southeastern Richland County, encompassing the communities of Hopkins, Eastover, and the Lower Richland area along US-76, US-378, and SC-764. This is the least developed part of the metro but is seeing gradual residential growth as Columbia expands. Hopkins is a small CDP with a long agricultural history. Eastover is an incorporated town along US-76/378. The area's signature attraction is Congaree National Park -- the largest intact expanse of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States, and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Lower Richland High School serves much of the area.
