The suburban mainland communities south of Daytona Beach, centered on Port Orange -- the metro's most family-friendly city with top-rated schools and a mix of established and newer neighborhoods. Port Orange stretches from the Halifax River west to I-95 and beyond, with commercial corridors along Dunlawton Avenue and Taylor Road. This region includes LPGA International and Spruce Creek Fly-In to the southwest. Ormond-by-the-Sea, a quiet beachside CDP north of the main cluster, is also included as a distinct coastal residential community.
