Downtown Des Moines

The core of the city of Des Moines at the confluence of the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers. This region contains the Iowa State Capitol (with its 23-karat gold-leafed dome), the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, the Des Moines Civic Center, the Iowa Events Center, Cowles Commons, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, the historic Court Avenue district, the East Village, and the Principal Financial Group headquarters campus. The Western Gateway Park anchors the west edge of downtown. The historic Sherman Hill Victorian residential district sits just west of downtown.
