The inner-ring Oakland County suburbs along the Woodward Avenue (M-1) corridor north of 8 Mile Road, from Ferndale through Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, and Bloomfield Hills. This region contains some of the most walkable downtowns in metro Detroit (Royal Oak, Ferndale, Birmingham), the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, the Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, and the historic Woodward Dream Cruise route. The Woodward corridor is served by SMART bus plus the planned Woodward Avenue BRT.
