Rockingham County

The northern tier of the metro, where the Dan River valley defines both the landscape and the economy. Eden and Reidsville are the county's population centers — Eden formed from the merger of Leaksville, Spray, and Draper along the Dan and Smith rivers, while Reidsville anchors the county's eastern half along US-29. Madison, Mayodan, and Wentworth (the county seat) round out a region known for river recreation, the Chinqua-Penn Plantation historic site, and proximity to Virginia. Lower housing costs and a rural setting attract residents willing to commute south to Greensboro via US-29 or US-220.
