The manufacturing and logistics spine of the Upstate, centered on the city of Greer (pop. 35,308) along Interstate 85 between Greenville and Spartanburg. BMW Manufacturing's 6.2-million-square-foot plant and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) anchor this corridor. The towns of Duncan, Lyman, and Wellford cluster along I-85 in southwestern Spartanburg County. Boiling Springs (pop. 10,405), a fast-growing CDP, sits just south of Spartanburg. This zone has seen explosive residential and commercial growth driven by advanced manufacturing employment.
