East Houston & Ship Channel

The industrial and residential corridor east of downtown along the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay, including Pasadena, Baytown, Deer Park, and La Porte. Pasadena is the metro's second-largest suburb by population, and the Ship Channel is the backbone of the nation's largest petrochemical complex. Deer Park is the site of the San Jacinto Battleground, where Texas won its independence. Baytown anchors the eastern end where I-10 crosses the bay via the Fred Hartman Bridge. Mont Belvieu in Chambers County hosts the country's largest underground petroleum storage.
