Alcoa Hwy S
The communities of Blount County south of Knoxville, anchored by the county seat of Maryville (pop. 31,900) and its neighbor Alcoa (pop. 11,000). Connected to Knoxville via Alcoa Highway (US 129) and Pellissippi Parkway (I-140/SR 162), this region is home to McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS), the primary commercial airport serving the Knoxville metro. Maryville College (founded 1819) adds academic character to the county seat. Louisville, Eagleton Village, and Rockford round out the residential communities. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park's Townsend entrance -- known as 'the Peaceful Side of the Smokies' -- lies at the county's southeastern edge.
