Northeast Polk & I-4 Growth Corridor
The explosive-growth corridor in northeastern Polk County, driven by proximity to Walt Disney World and the Orlando tourism economy. Haines City has transformed from a small citrus town into one of the county's largest cities, fueled by affordable housing for Orlando-area workers. Davenport, at the intersection of I-4 and US-27, has seen enormous residential development with master-planned communities and vacation rental neighborhoods. Dundee and Lake Hamilton are smaller communities along US-27 south of Haines City. This region is Polk County's fastest-growing area, with new subdivisions, retail centers, and infrastructure projects reshaping the landscape. The I-4/US-27 interchange is the primary gateway, and Brightline high-speed rail has proposed a Polk County station along the I-4 corridor connecting Tampa and Orlando. Citrus Connection Route 30 and other numbered routes serve Haines City.
