Edinburg

The Hidalgo County seat and home to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Edinburg (pop. ~109,000) is the second-largest city in the metro and one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. Located north of McAllen and Pharr, Edinburg has a distinct identity as a government, education, and healthcare center. The historic downtown surrounds the county courthouse, while newer development pushes north and east. US-281 and US-281 Business provide the primary north-south connections, and State Highway 107 links west to Mission. Edinburg CISD is the largest school district in the region.
