Southeast Corridor (Rutherford County)

The I-24 Southeast corridor through Rutherford County, home to three of the metro's largest suburban cities: Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and La Vergne. Murfreesboro, with over 160,000 residents, is the county seat and Tennessee's sixth-largest city, home to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) with 22,000+ students. Smyrna hosts Nissan's North American manufacturing headquarters, one of the region's largest employers. La Vergne is a fast-growing city bridging Nashville's Antioch area to the Rutherford County suburbs. Eagleville anchors the rural southwestern corner of the county. Rutherford County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the entire United States, driven by affordable housing, strong schools, and I-24 commuter access to Nashville. This is the most congested commute corridor in the metro.
