I-95 / US-1 / CTrail Shore Line East

The eastern coastal band of New Haven County along Long Island Sound toward the Connecticut River. Anchored by Branford (the Thimble Islands archipelago, Stony Creek), Guilford (home to a historic 17th-century town green and the Henry Whitfield State Museum — the oldest stone house in New England, built 1639), Madison (home of Hammonasset Beach State Park — Connecticut's largest shoreline state park), and North Branford (containing the Lake Gaillard watershed area). The region is served by CTrail Shore Line East commuter rail (Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton stations) in addition to I-95.
