I-10 West

The densely populated East Bank suburbs in Jefferson Parish, directly west of the New Orleans city limits. Metairie (pop. ~139,000) is the largest census-designated place in the metro and the most populous unincorporated community in the state. Kenner (pop. ~65,000) is home to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Smaller communities include River Ridge, Harahan, and Elmwood. This region is the traditional suburban center of the metro area, with extensive shopping, dining, and easy access to downtown via I-10 and the Causeway Boulevard corridor.
