Causeway / I-12

The communities on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain in St. Tammany Parish, connected to the south shore by the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway (24 miles) and the I-10/I-12 corridor via Slidell. Mandeville and Covington are the principal cities, offering a quieter, more wooded lifestyle with strong school systems. Slidell sits at the eastern end of the parish near the Mississippi state line. This is the metro's primary growth corridor, with St. Tammany Parish gaining population every year since 2020. In 2023, the Census gave St. Tammany its own metropolitan statistical area designation.
