Merritt Island & Cape Canaveral

The barrier-island corridor between the Indian River and Banana River lagoons, gateway to Kennedy Space Center. Merritt Island (pop. 34,518) is a large unincorporated community with waterfront homes, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and direct causeway access to both the mainland and the beach. Cocoa Beach (pop. 11,354) is the iconic surf town immortalized by I Dream of Jeannie, with a vibrant beachside entertainment district along Minutemen Causeway. Cape Canaveral (pop. 9,972) sits adjacent to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Port Canaveral, one of the busiest cruise ports in the world.
