The eastern half of Dutchess County along the Connecticut border, characterized by rolling farmland, horse country, and the Metro-North Harlem Line. Anchored by Millbrook (in the Town of Washington, home to the Millbrook School and the Trevor Zoo), Amenia, Millerton (in the Town of North East, on the Harlem Valley rail trail), Dover Plains, Pawling (terminus of Metro-North Harlem Line weekday service), Beekman/Poughquag, Stanford (Stanfordville), and Wassaic (another Harlem Line terminus). The region features significant preserved land including the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and Harlem Valley Rail Trail.
