City of Rapid City

The city of Rapid City itself, the second-largest city in South Dakota and the largest population center in western South Dakota, eastern Wyoming, and southeastern Montana. This region contains downtown Rapid City (the 'City of Presidents' with life-sized bronze statues of all US presidents on downtown sidewalks, the Dahl Arts Center, Main Street Square), the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (a major engineering and science research university), the historic Sioux Park, Storybook Island, and the Dinosaur Park (a hillside overlook with life-sized dinosaur statues built in 1936). The rapidly growing southern and eastern portions of the city extend toward Ellsworth AFB.
