Downtown & Fan District

The urban core of Richmond, an independent city since 1871 and the capital of Virginia. Downtown anchors the business district along the James River, while the Fan District radiates west with one of the largest intact Victorian neighborhoods in the country. Carytown's 'Mile of Style' shopping district, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the vibrant Jackson Ward historic district are all within this zone. GRTC's Pulse BRT runs along Broad Street, connecting Rocketts Landing in the east to Willow Lawn in the west. Oregon Hill and Monroe Ward provide walkable urban living near VCU's campus.
