Hanover County & Ashland

Hanover County (pop. 109,979) north of Richmond along the I-95 corridor, centered on the town of Ashland (pop. 7,565) and the large Mechanicsville CDP (pop. 39,482). Ashland is a charming college town (Randolph-Macon College) where trains pass through the center of town along the main street. Mechanicsville is one of the Richmond metro's most populous CDPs, spanning a large area of eastern Hanover County with family-oriented suburban development. Atlee is a growing residential area in western Hanover. This zone offers a more rural character than Henrico or Chesterfield, with lower density and larger lots.
