Outer East Bay
The suburban corridor south and east of Oakland, stretching from Hayward and Fremont along the I-880 corridor through Union City and Newark to the southern tip of the Bay. Fremont is the East Bay's second-largest city and home to Tesla's first major factory. Hayward anchors the central segment with Cal State East Bay and a revitalizing downtown. Castro Valley provides unincorporated suburban living with an East Bay hilltop character. These communities offer more affordable housing than the Peninsula or San Francisco while maintaining BART access (Hayward, South Hayward, Union City, Fremont stations) and direct highway links to Silicon Valley.
