The rapidly growing southern tier of the metro, from the historic city of Venice south through the booming city of North Port and the Englewood area. Venice (pop. ~30,000) is a charming, walkable city known for its Italian-inspired downtown, shark-tooth beaches, and active retiree community. South Venice (pop. ~15,600) extends the Venice footprint southward. North Port (pop. ~93,000) is the metro's largest city by population and one of Florida's fastest-growing, driven by master-planned communities like Wellen Park. Warm Mineral Springs and Englewood (pop. ~23,000) round out the southern fringe, with Englewood straddling the Sarasota-Charlotte county line.
