The southern portion of Luzerne County along the I-80 and I-81 corridors. Anchored by the City of Hazleton — one of Pennsylvania's fastest-growing Hispanic communities, with significant Dominican, Puerto Rican, and Mexican American populations; the 'Mountain City' sits atop the western slope of Hazleton Mountain at 1,700 ft elevation, one of the highest major cities in Pennsylvania. Also includes West Hazleton, Hazle Township, Sugar Notch, Freeland, White Haven, Conyngham, Sugarloaf Township, Butler Township (containing Drums), and the Mountain Top area (Wright Township, Rice Township, Fairview Township). Mountain Top sits on the Wyoming Valley Mountain Plateau above Wilkes-Barre at ~1,900 ft elevation. The region also features the Eagle Rock Resort, the Pocono Racecourse (in Long Pond, Monroe Co edge), and significant warehousing along I-80 and I-81.
