The Wyoming Valley is the densely populated river valley along the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County, about 20 minutes south of Scranton. Anchored by Wilkes-Barre (the Luzerne County seat, home to Wilkes University and King's College, Public Square downtown, the Market Street Bridge over the Susquehanna, and Mohegan Sun Arena in nearby Wilkes-Barre Township), Kingston (the largest Wyoming Valley borough), Plymouth, Pittston (the 'Tomato Capital' of the former anthracite region), Nanticoke (home of Luzerne County Community College), Forty Fort (named for the 1778 Fort Forty), Luzerne, Swoyersville, Edwardsville, Larksville, Ashley, Exeter, West Pittston, Duryea, and the Wyoming Valley West/Wyoming Area/Pittston Area school districts. The region has seen major investment from Amazon (fulfillment center in Hazle Township near Hazleton, plus more in Pittston), Cargill, and other logistics operators.
