The urban heart of the metro, encompassing Downtown Tucson, the University of Arizona campus, South Tucson (an independent city enclave), and the Flowing Wells CDP. The Sun Link streetcar connects the Mercado District, Downtown, 4th Avenue, and the university. This area has the metro's highest density, most cultural institutions, and greatest diversity of housing from historic adobe homes to modern apartments.
