Windham County, Connecticut — known as **'The Quiet Corner'** or **'The Last Green Valley'** — is the rural northeastern corner of Connecticut bordering Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Anchored by Killingly (containing the Danielson village, the county seat traditionally), Putnam (a historic mill town now known for antique shops and a revitalized downtown), Plainfield, Canterbury, Pomfret (home to Pomfret School — an elite boarding school), Woodstock CT, Thompson, Brooklyn, Eastford, Ashford, Hampton, Chaplin, Scotland, and Windham/Willimantic (a historic thread-mill city, home of Eastern Connecticut State University, often called 'Frog Capital USA' for the Windham Frog Bridge).
